Wash the pears, cut them into quarters, remove the stem, any remaining petals, and the core. Leave the skin on.

Place the pears in a baking dish or a large pot that fits in the oven, and steam them covered in the oven at 180 °C for about 2-4 hours. The pears will reduce by half, allowing us to fill the entire baking dish or pot.

The steaming time depends on how many and how juicy the pears are. Occasionally stir the pears while they are steaming.

Allow the baked pears to cool, and then grind them using a meat grinder.

Fill the ground ingredients into jars, wipe the rims, and close them with lids. Sterilize for 45 minutes from the moment they start boiling.

This way preserved jam can last up to 3 years. The best pears are those with low juice content. Butter pears are very juicy, so some juice needs to be removed during steaming.
