Canning cherries is a wonderful event every year, because who can resist this divinely juicy fruit. Canning cherries is also encouraged by the fact that they spoil quickly, and those who do not want to repeat the cake recipe or jam recipe this year can dive into canning. The most important thing in this process is cleanliness. Jars and lids must be perfectly cleaned or sterilized, and cherries should be thoroughly washed. If you find any with worms, soak them overnight in vinegar water. The worms will obediently float to the surface, and you will have fruit without its original inhabitants. Canning cherries can be done in two ways – in a pot or in the oven, it depends on you. In any case, a cherry compote will bring you great joy and service during the winter months. Instructions for canning cherries in a pot can be found here.

Ingredients (what you need)

cherries
sugar
water

Recipe steps

Fill half of the warmed jars with cherries, then add two tablespoons of sugar to each jar and fill them up with more cherries.

Pour warm sugar syrup over the cherries, which prevents the fruit from spoiling, or at least warm boiled water. For 1 liter, you will need about 300 grams of sugar.

Seal the jars with cherries tightly and sterilize them in a pot at 85 °C for about 20-25 minutes. Then take them out, check the lid to ensure it is tightened, and after cooling, turn them upside down.
