Plum dumplings

Yeast Plum Dumplings shine like a gem on the necklace of Czech cuisine, as our nation has a special relationship with plums. Plum dumplings are made very similarly to other yeast fruit dumplings, but you just have to wait for plum season and not send them all to the distillery for slivovitz. So in September, all lovers of plum dumplings should pay attention.
Those who love the explosively delicious combination of plums and poppy seeds can try our recipe for plum dumplings with poppy seeds. However, ground poppy seeds are not added at the end to the finished yeast dumplings, but straight into the dough. You will see that this method extracts even more material, flavor, and aroma from the plums and poppy seeds. A small tip: use cream cheese in blocks, as the kind in tubs is too wet and runny, making it unsuitable for the dumpling dough. Recipe for yeast plum dumplings right here.
Ingredients (what you need)
250 g creamy curd in block
1 egg
120 g semolina
2 tablespoons ground poppy seeds
12 pitted plums
powdered sugar
butter
plain yogurt
Recipe steps
First, bring water to a boil in a large pot. In a bowl, combine the eggs, semolina, and ground poppy seeds. Create a dough, keeping in mind that the less you mix, the more delicate it will be.
On a work surface, sprinkle a mound of semolina. Place a mound of dough on top and flatten it into a disc. Put a pitted plum in the center, wrap it up, and shape it into a nice dumpling-ball. The semolina coating will help prevent the dumpling from sticking to your hands and the other pieces.
In the boiling water you prepared earlier, add the dumplings, making sure not to overcrowd them. After about 6–7 minutes, they will float to the surface. Use a slotted spoon to remove them from the hot water. If you have more dumplings, repeat the process.
Sprinkle the finished steamed dumplings with powdered sugar and drizzle with melted butter. Option B: instead of butter, you can use plain yogurt.
