If you love Christmas gingerbread but decorating with icing is not your thing, this year will be different. We have prepared a recipe for a great egg white icing for you.

Ingredients (what you need)

1 egg white
10 tablespoons powdered sugar (slightly heaped)
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon potato starch

Recipe steps

Whisk the egg whites in a bowl and remove the "stringy bits". Sift the sugar through a very fine sieve, add lemon juice, and whisk at the highest speed until the egg whites thicken.

Then sift the starch into the mixture and stir until a firm mass is obtained. If we have a larger egg white, we add more sugar, and if the mixture is too thick, we can add more lemon juice. The ideal icing should stay in peaks on the beaters and should not run off.

For decoration, it is best to use plastic bags. To make filling the icing easier, we can place the bag in a taller bowl and fill it comfortably. If we want to color the icing, just add the color to the bag with the icing, close the bag, and mix it by hand.

We start decorating by cutting the tip of the bag at an angle. When coloring larger areas, we first draw the outline, wait for it to dry a little, and then fill in the inside.

If we do not use the icing, we store it back in the bag, return it to a larger container, and keep it in a cool place.
