New Year's Eve and New Year are approaching. We are thinking about what snacks to prepare. Something spicy, hot, and quick that we can serve warm or cold. A great choice could be a New Year's horseradish sauce. Who wouldn't crave it?

Ingredients (what you need)

Half a block of butter
1 tablespoon finely chopped onion
1 cream for whipping 33% or 1 sour cream
500 ml beef broth or cube broth
250 ml semi-skimmed milk
2-3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
A pinch of ground pepper
A pinch of sugar
A pinch of salt
180 g finely grated horseradish (add more if desired)
1 teaspoon lemon juice - to taste

Recipe steps

Are you drooling too? So hurry up and let's get it done.

We'll prepare a large pot with a high bottom.

We'll let the butter melt, add finely chopped onion, and sprinkle with semi-coarse flour.

We'll add milk, pour in cold beef broth (or bouillon with water) and let it simmer thoroughly. For about 20-30 minutes. Then we'll remove it from the heat.

We'll smooth it out with whipping cream or sour cream. And finally, the most important ingredient: finely grated horseradish.

We season it with salt, sugar, and a pinch of ground pepper.

Grandmother used to add a teaspoon of lemon juice to the sauces. Enjoy your meal!

Enjoy it with ham, smoked meat, or boiled eggs. And as a side dish, serve bread dumplings or rolls. Don't forget that you can serve it in a sauce boat.

Bon appetit!
