For example, instead of sour cream, you can use whipping cream. This will make the homemade lučina even smoother and less tangy. For maximum flavor adjustment, it is possible to combine both approaches – sour cream and whipping cream. Another thing you can influence when it comes to something like a homemade lučina recipe is the addition of other ingredients. Homemade lučina can be with or without salt, and you can of course use fresh herbs, sun-dried tomatoes, pickled peppers, chopped nuts, or some quality pepper. And the leftover whey that the recipe and homemade lučina produce can be used for baking homemade bread or pastries.

Ingredients (what you need)

500 g white fatty yogurt (Greek or farmer's)
200 g sour cream
salt

Recipe steps

First, whip the cream and yogurt until smooth. If desired, season with salt or any additional ingredients you choose.

Line a large sieve with a clean cotton cloth or some gauze. Pour the whipped mixture into the sieve and place it over a pot. Then cover the yogurt mixture with the loose ends of the cloth and place a small plate on top to weigh it down.

Put the future cheese in the fridge – ideally for 24 hours, but at least for 8 hours.

Finally, transfer the finished homemade cottage cheese into a bowl.
