Cooking time: 22 minutes
Servings: 4

Nothing compares to the feeling of pulling a crispy baguette with a beautifully golden crust and a tender interior out of the oven. Do you want to bake French baguettes at home but are afraid to give it a try?

Ingredients (what you need)

500 g all-purpose flour
2 level teaspoons of salt
1 teaspoon of sugar
300 g lukewarm water (300-310 g)
17 g fresh yeast
a little oil

Recipe steps

To make the dough, we use a mixer or a bread machine.

We mix the flour with salt, taking sifting into account, and create a well in it where we place a teaspoon of sugar and some lukewarm water that we have prepared.

In the center with water, we crumble the yeast and let it stand for about 10 minutes. Then, we knead the dough using the machine or by hand and let it rise.

First, we pour the water into the bread machine, then add the flour with salt, and finally the sugar and yeast. We then start the dough preparation program.

After the dough has risen, we shape it into a ball and divide it into four parts. From each part, we make balls and then roll them into loaves. We preheat the oven to 220 °C.

We place the baguettes crosswise on a baking sheet lined with Teflon foil or baking paper. We cut them diagonally using a finely serrated knife that we have brushed with oil beforehand.

We cover the baguettes with a cloth and let them rise for about 25 minutes, depending on the room temperature. Then we brush them with lukewarm water, place them in the preheated oven, and bake for about 22-25 minutes at a temperature of 210-220 °C.
