Ingredients (what you need)
For the yeast dumplings
750 g all-purpose flour
350 ml lukewarm milk
4 tablespoons sugar
4 tablespoons butter
2 packets dry yeast (16 g)
2 eggs
1 pinch of salt
1 vanilla sugar
lemon zest
nutmeg
butter for greasing the baking tray and for greasing the dumplings
For the sauce
650 ml milk
1 packet vanilla pudding
1 vanilla sugar
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons rum
Recipe steps
In a bowl, we combine flour with a pinch of salt and yeast, then add lemon zest, nutmeg, and two eggs.
In a container, we heat 350 ml of milk together with butter, sugar, and vanilla sugar.
We pour the warm milk mixture into the bowl and knead it into a dough. We sprinkle the surface with flour and cover it with a towel. We let it rise for about an hour.
After rising, we form small balls using a teaspoon, which we place on a buttered baking sheet, making sure to grease them against each other as well.
We bake in a hot air oven at a temperature of 180 °C for 20 to 25 minutes.
In a pot, we pour in 650 ml of milk, add sugar, vanilla sugar, and the contents of a packet of vanilla pudding, pour in rum, and cook until a thicker consistency is achieved.
We stack the buns on a plate, pour over the sauce, and we can serve.
