Baked lentils with vegetables

Soaked lentils are cooked with bay leaves and half an onion until soft. Meanwhile, while the lentils are cooking, in heated oil, we start to sprinkle...
Ingredients (what you need)
300 g lentils
2 bay leaves
1 larger onion
2 tablespoons oil
1 medium carrot
a piece of celery
1 tomato
salt
pepper
crushed caraway seeds
100 g Black Forest ham
Recipe steps
Cook the pre-soaked lentils with bay leaves and half an onion until they are nearly soft.
Meanwhile, as the lentils cook, start sautéing the remaining chopped onion in heated oil. Once the onion is almost browned, add the grated carrot and celery, briefly sauté them, then stir in the chopped tomato, add a pinch of crushed cumin and pepper, and sauté for a while.
Remove the bay leaves and onion from the lentils, drain excess water if necessary, salt them, and mix in the prepared vegetable mixture along with the chopped Black Forest ham.
Transfer the entire mixture to a baking dish and you can place slices of ham on top of the lentils. Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes.
