Even though we know it from the school cafeteria or competitions, homemade apple bread pudding is absolutely excellent! One enjoys it with the aroma of apples, cinnamon, and vanilla...

Ingredients (what you need)

50 g raisins
3 apples
4 rolls (older, but soft)
500 ml milk (as needed)
2 eggs
250 g fatty cottage cheese (in a tub)
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 teaspoon cornstarch
ground cinnamon
1 vanilla sugar
1 tablespoon butter for greasing the pan
For the topping
2 tablespoons butter
powdered sugar

Recipe steps

We grease the baking dish with butter or another fat.

We sort the raisins, rinse them under running water, and place them in a bowl, which we then pour hot water over.

We wash the apples, cut them into quarters, and remove the cores. Then we grate them into larger pieces. We cut the stale rolls into slices.

In a small amount of milk, we beat one egg with a fork and then add the rest of the milk. We dip two-thirds of the sliced rolls into this mixture piece by piece.

We let the raisins drain well in a sieve.

We place the moistened slices of rolls next to each other in the dish and cover both the bottom and sides with them.

We prepare the quark mixture by mixing the second egg with sugar, then adding the quark and cornstarch. After thoroughly mixing, we add half of the drained raisins.

We carefully squeeze the juice from the apples and cut them into slices of rolls.

We arrange the apples, sprinkle them with the remaining raisins, cinnamon, and vanilla sugar. Then we pour the prepared quark mixture over everything and cover it with the slices of rolls soaked in the mixture.

We brush the surface with melted butter and place the dish in a preheated oven. We bake at 180 °C for approximately 45 minutes, until the rolls turn golden on the surface.

We cut the baked sweet bread into pieces and generously sprinkle sugar on it on the plate.
