Stewed Brussels sprouts with broccoli
Preparation time: 25 minutes
Cooking time: 40 minutes
Servings: 3

One hundred grams of butter or lard, one hundred to two hundred grams of bacon cut into strips, one large onion cut into larger cubes, which should be sautéed in a deep pan until translucent.

Ingredients (what you need)

100 g butter or baking fat
100 – 200 g English bacon, cut into strips
1 large onion (diced)
1 large carrot, cut into strips
1/2 broccoli
500 g Brussels sprouts, cleaned and cut into quarters
1/2 head of garlic
200 ml white wine
salt
pepper
125 ml
1 teaspoon flour or ready-made roux (e.g. Knorr)

Recipe steps

In a deep frying pan, melt 100 g of butter or baking fat. Add 100 to 200 g of English bacon cut into strips and sauté. Then add one large onion chopped into larger cubes and let it become translucent. Finally, add one large carrot cut into strips.

Cut the stalks from half a broccoli into pieces (keep the florets for later), clean 500 g of Brussels sprouts and cut them in half, and also roughly chop about a quarter of a head of garlic crushed with the flat of a knife, and add it.

Sauté for about 15 minutes, then add 200 ml of white wine, some water, and lightly salt and pepper. Once the Brussels sprouts are tender, add the broccoli florets and another quarter of the head of garlic, and sauté for another 5 minutes.

In 125 ml of cream, add a teaspoon of flour or prepared roux (like Knorr) and mix well. After about 1-2 minutes, the dish is ready. Serve sprinkled with cheese to taste or with boiled potatoes.
