Pico de Gallo - salad in the colors of the Mexican flag

We cut all the ingredients. We halve the tomatoes, then cut them into quarters and finally into smaller pieces. We finely chop the onion. We cut the peppers into small pieces, if you have them.
Ingredients (what you need)
5 medium tomatoes
1 medium onion
2 jalapeño peppers or about two tablespoons of pickled jalapeños
3 cloves of garlic
2 teaspoons of fresh cilantro
1 lime
salt
pepper
Recipe steps
Chop everything. First, halve the tomatoes, then cut them into quarters, and finally chop them into smaller pieces. Finely chop the onion. If the peppers are fresh, dice them, removing the seeds and veins. Crush the garlic and chop the fresh cilantro into small pieces.
Mix all the ingredients together. It’s good to add the grated lime zest, but if you don’t like it, feel free to skip it. Squeeze the juice from the lime and pour it over the salad. Season with salt and pepper. Mix thoroughly and let cool.
You can serve it on its own or with corn chips, or as a filling for tacos. I recommend having some white bread, such as a baguette, on hand, as the salad is quite spicy.
