Ingredients (what you need)

For 35 pieces
170 g plain flour
150 g powdered sugar
150 g lard
60 g cocoa
jam (preferably currant)
powdered sugar for dusting
almonds

Recipe steps

In a bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and cocoa. Add the lard and knead the ingredients into a smooth dough. Wrap the finished dough in cling film and refrigerate it until the next day.

The next day, let the dough soften and take pieces weighing 15 g. Roll each piece into balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.

I gently pressed each ball with my palm and then made a dent in it with the other end of the wooden spoon. I flattened the balls slightly to prevent them from falling apart too much. If any ball cracked while making the dent, I reshaped it, pressed it with my palm, and made the dent again.

Place the sheet with the lard cookies in a preheated oven at 170°C and bake them for about 10 minutes.

Allow the baked lard cookies to cool, then fill the dents with jam. You can use any jam, but currant jam is the best.

It is best to prepare cocoa lard cookies at least a week in advance, so the dough can soak up the jam and soften.
