Roasted turkey, stuffed with a mixture of offal, bacon, and almonds, is ideal for celebrations. It has a golden crust on the surface and is tender and juicy on the inside.
Ingredients (what you need)
1 turkey
4 rolls
200 ml milk
150 g bacon
1 teaspoon dried parsley (or fresh)
2-3 tablespoons almonds (chopped)
1/2 apple (diced)
2 eggs
salt
ground pepper
offal
1 small onion
For brushing the turkey
2 tablespoons oil
ground caraway
salt
sweet paprika
Recipe steps
We blend the offal. We tear the bread roll into small pieces. We chop the bacon into small pieces. We cut the apple into small cubes.
We place the bread rolls in a bowl and soak them in milk.
Once the bread rolls have absorbed the milk, we add the offal, almonds, chopped bacon, apple, parsley, salt, ground pepper, and eggs, and mix everything thoroughly.
We salt the turkey and fill its cavity with the stuffing.
We sew it up with thread or pin it with a meat needle. We peel the onion and chop it.
We mix oil with ground cumin, salt, and sweet paprika.
We place bacon and onion at the bottom of a roasting pan, then we place the stuffed turkey in it and brush it with the oil and spice mixture.
We cover it with a lid and put it in the oven. We bake at a temperature of 200-250 °C. The baking time depends on the size of the turkey.
Then we remove the lid and bake for another 20 minutes to give the turkey a nice color.
As a side dish, we can choose potato dumplings with sauerkraut or boiled potatoes with coleslaw.
