Ingredients (what you need)
500 g semi-fine flour + for dusting the work surface
a pinch salt
3 packets vanilla sugar
lemon zest (from one lemon)
4–5 pcs egg yolks
250 ml milk
50 g butter
2–3 tablespoons rum (Czech rum)
1 cube (42 g) or 1 packet dried yeast
jam
oil
powdered sugar (for dusting)
Recipe steps
First, sift the flour with salt into a larger bowl. Add sugar and lemon zest to it. In the center of the pile in the bowl, make a well and pour in the egg yolks, lukewarm milk, melted butter, and rum. Finally, crumble the yeast into the emerging dough.
You are now ready for a delicious dough for doughnuts. Mix everything thoroughly and knead to form a smooth and irresistible dough. Lightly dust it with flour, cover it with a cloth, and let the dough rise in a warm place for at least an hour until it doubles in volume.
Roll out the risen dough on a floured surface into a rectangle that should be about 1.5 centimeters thick.
On one half, place dollops of your favorite jam, and cover them with the other half. Then, cut out doughnuts using a round glass. Continue this way until you have processed all the dough.
Finally, pour a generous layer of oil into a smaller pot, let it heat up well, and fry the doughnuts until golden brown on both sides. Place the fried doughnuts on paper towels to absorb excess oil. Then give them a white cap of powdered sugar. Enjoy!
